EREF’s Annual Auction
Held in conjunction with WasteExpo, the EREF Annual Charitable Auction is the foundation’s largest fundraiser, so far having raised more than $13 million to further EREF’s mission to fund and direct scientific research and educational initiatives for waste management practices.
The Auction is a direct result of the generosity of members of the Waste Equipment Technology Association (WASTEC) and the National Solid Wastes Management Association (NSWMA), who have donated the fantastic items up for auction.
Silent Auction
The Silent Auction provides a unique way for donors to increase their booth traffic. WasteExpo attendees can bid on Silent Auction items as they visit participating booths in the Exhibit Hall on Tuesday. On Wednesday, bid sheets are moved to the EREF booth and bidding will continue until just before the Live Auction begins.
New this year - ONLINE BIDDING! All items donated to the Silent Auction will be posted in an online auction that will run from May 6 - 17. In addition to the online bidding, companies donating to the Silent Auction will receive promotion through signage at the EREF booth as well as their own booth, recognition in promotional e-mails and on the EREF Web site, a large balloon in their booth indicating their participation and there will also be a flyer listing all Silent Auction donations distributed at WasteExpo. Due to the overwhelming popularity of the Silent Auction, donations must have a fair market value of $400 or more. Participating companies may donate up to 2 items to meet the $400 minimum.*

Live Auction
The Live Auction is a fast-paced and exciting event. WasteExpo attendees gather at the EREF booth to enjoy food, drinks and fellowship during the Auction Reception. A professional auctioneer then keeps audience members on their feet as he auctions off the donated items, which typically include trucks, compactors, balers, trips and specialty event tickets. Donations to the Live Auction must be valued at $5,000 or more.

Donor companies are entitled to a tax donation for the full fair market value of their donation.
