Labrie Environmental Group CEO Elected to Environmental Research and Education Foundation (EREF) Board of Directors

Alexandria, Va. – Jean Bourgeois, Chief Executive Officer of Labrie Environmental Group, was unanimously elected to serve on the 2007 board of directors of the Environmental Research and Education Foundation (EREF) headquartered in Alexandria, Virginia.  His election to the EREF board is for a three-year term.

Allied Waste Industries CEO Elected to Environmental Research and Education Foundation (EREF) Board of Directors

Alexandria, Va. – The Environmental Research and Education Foundation (EREF) is pleased to welcome John J. Zillmer, Chairman and CEO of Allied Waste Industries, as the newest director on the foundation’s board.  Zillmer was unanimously elected at the October meeting of the board of directors to serve a term of three years, ending December 2009.  He will serve on both the Executive and Capital Campaign Committees.

University of Texas at Austin Student Awarded $36,000 Scholarship by the Environmental Research and Education Foundation

Alexandria, Va. –  Doctoral student Susan De Long was awarded the 2006 EREF Scholarship by the Environmental Research and Education Foundation .  She was selected for this prestigious fellowship from numerous other national and international candidates including students from: University of Manitoba, Michigan State University, Columbia University, Yale University, Cornell University, and Purdue University.

Heil Environmental President Elected to Environmental Research and Education Foundation (EREF) Board of Directors

Alexandria, Va. – Michael Jobe was elected on August 3, 2005 to the board of directors of the Environmental Research and Education Foundation (EREF) headquartered in Alexandria, Virginia.  EREF is the only independent foundation in the United States working for a better environment through improved waste management practices.  His election to the EREF board as a director is for a three-year term.

EREF Landfill Technical Workshop

Alexandria, VA – Many waste industry professionals wonder how to stay up-to-date on the latest industry research, subsequent finds, and pending regulation.  The Environmental Research and Education Foundation provided a solution by bringing together industry professionals, government regulators, and researchers for the EREF Landfill Technical Workshop on August 2, 2005.  The EREF partnered with Republic Services, Inc. to bring together 40 attendees, representing multiple facets of the industry, for a workshop where researchers presented project data from recently completed and ongoing projects pertaining to landfills.

Environmental Research And Education Foundation Wins Big in Vegas

Alexandria, VA – For many, Las Vegas is the nemesis of progress and good fortune since there are no guarantees in gambling.  Coming home from Vegas a winner was a straight shoot for the EREF, however; the foundation learned that there are guarantees when generous contributors and enthusiastic bidders team up to benefit scientific advancement at the largest tradeshow in North America.  The EREF held it’s 11th annual Absolute Refuse Equipment Auction and Charitable Raffle as part of WasteExpo’s 2005 events, raising over $740,000 to benefit research and education in the solid waste industry.  The auction events combine to be the most significant fundraiser of the year for the foundation.
