This meeting will discuss two research studies funded by EREF and being conducted by North Carolina State University. These projects focus on strategies for the sustainable management of organics. Life-cycle assessment (LCA) is being used to assess the most cost-effective ways to sustainably manage organics in consideration of changing waste generation, composition and policies. In addition to LCA modeling studies, a laboratory-based study will address how diverting food waste may impact leachate generation and treatment.
Attend this project review to learn about cost and environmental impacts associated with organics management strategies and policies and how food waste impacts leachate quality and treatment, with a focus on organic matter characteristics.
