Recyclable Materials & Organics Sector Flow Assessment

Recycling and composition data from specific commercial sectors (e.g. office, retail, restaurants) are not widely available. The goal of this project is to develop a national inventory of recycling data related to the on-site recovery of materials in various sectors, the processes used to manage these materials and policy influences in material management decisions.

Project Goals:

• Determine the amounts and types of waste components recycled/recovered in key sectors
• Determine the recycling processes used within the sectors and subsectors
• Identify the types of equipment and containers used to manage or process recyclables
• Identify potential policy, economic, or operational factors that includes recycling and recovery decisions, the choice of processing methods, or equipment/container selection
