Odor Control & Abatement State of Practice
This project addresses the persistent challenge of odor generation in solid waste management, particularly as urban development encroaches on waste facility boundaries. Odors resulting from the decomposition of organic materials can lead to community complaints, health concerns, and even litigation, presenting operational and reputational risks for the industry. The expected outcome is a comprehensive state-of-practice assessment that compiles existing research, regulatory thresholds, management strategies, and industry perspectives through literature review, data compilation, and surveys. This will culminate in a white paper intended for broad dissemination.
