EREF Seeks Academic Leader for Board of Directors
The Environmental Research and Education Foundation (EREF) seeks an accomplished academic professional to serve on its Board of Directors. EREF is a leading nonprofit organization advancing scientific research and education in sustainable materials management and solid waste. The Board provides strategic oversight, operational guidance, and thought leadership to help EREF fulfill its mission of improving the sustainability and environmental performance of the solid waste field through sound science and education.
Qualifications and Expertise:
- Academic Standing: Current or emeritus professor with a strong record of research and publication.
- Technical Expertise: Demonstrated experience in sustainability, circularity, solid waste management, techno-economic analysis, and life-cycle analysis or related environmental systems.
- Research Administration: Proven leadership in research program development, administration, and oversight, including experience managing funded projects.
- Strategic Insight: Ability to contribute to strategic discussions on national research priorities and the translation of science into practical applications for industry and policy.
- Collaborative Leadership: Commitment to advancing interdisciplinary partnerships among academia, industry, and government to address complex environmental challenges.
Responsibilities:
- Provide scientific and strategic guidance on EREF’s research agenda and grantmaking.
- Participate in Board and committee meetings (in-person and virtual) approximately 3–4 times per year.
- Serve as an ambassador for EREF’s mission within the academic and professional community.
