Description
Waste transfer stations are among the most heavily used assets in the solid waste system, and their tipping floors are subject to constant abrasion from heavy equipment and accelerated deterioration from acidic leachate. This EREF-funded research evaluated concrete formulations, repair materials, coatings, and rehabilitation strategies to identify approaches that improve floor durability and extend service life. The findings provide transfer station owners and operators with practical guidance for reducing maintenance costs, minimizing operational disruptions, and making more informed infrastructure investment decisions.
