Update to Municipal Solid Waste Management in the U.S.: 2016, 2019, 2023

This report examines waste management strategies in the U.S. through different endpoints (landfilling, WTE, recycling, compositing, and anaerobic digestion) using bottom-up, facility-based survey data aggregation. It tracks municipal solid waste (MSW) tonnage to support emissions estimation, understand resource consumption, and facilitate city planning and municipal budgeting.

The report presents state, regional, and national statistics on waste management facilities in the U.S., provides an analysis of different waste management infrastructures, and compares current waste management activities to those in 2010 and 2013.
