Waste Collection Vehicle Fleet Management Study

While much attention is given to end points of disposal, the solid waste industry is primarily focused on the transport of waste materials from the point of collection to these end points of disposal. This report studies how fleet management decisions can impact/be impacted by waste collection activities. Fleet management data is frequently requested from EREF, but there is currently a lack of knowledge on the fleet management activities in the U.S. beyond the quantity of waste generated and the number of employees within the industry.

This report combines publicly avaible information about waste collection fleets with survey data summarizing typical practices in waste collection vehicle fleet management to serve as base data for scientific research and education. These findings will help provide critical insights on waste collection vehicle fleet management practices and how these practices vary throughout fleets the U.S.
