Raleigh, NC (April 28, 2015) – The Environmental Research and Education Foundation (EREF), in collaboration with the California Refuse Recycling Council (CRRC), will be holding a Regional Summit on Sustainable Solid Waste Practices & Research on July 16 – 17, 2015 at The Sheraton San Jose in Milpitas, CA. The Regional Summit will focus on Organics Management.
Suitable for executives, managers, technical personnel, regulators and consultants, EREF’s Regional Summits present key solid waste research findings and highlight impacts on practice as well as provide updates on legislative activities/policy as they relate to needed research.
Raleigh, NC (February 17, 2015) – The EREF Annual Charitable Auction, one of the most popular features of WasteExpo, will take place June 1-4, 2015 in Las Vegas, Nevada. As the Environmental Research & Education Foundation’s (EREF) largest fundraiser, the auction has helped to raise more than $14 million to further EREF’s mission to fund and direct scientific research and educational initiatives for waste management practices. The Auction not only supports EREF’s mission and efforts, but also provides a unique way for WasteExpo exhibitors to increase their exposure at the show.

Raleigh, NC (January 27, 2015) – The Environmental Research and Education Foundation (EREF) is one of the largest sources of solid waste research funding in the U.S., allocating approximately $1 million annually in research grants and graduate level scholarships. Thus far, over 50 students have been EREF scholars, many of whom are now in key academic and professional positions across the U.S. EREF is pleased to announce that scholarship applications for the 2015-2016 academic year are now available. In recent years, coal ash management has been a key funding area for the Environmental Research & Education Foundation (EREF), one of the largest sources of solid waste research funding in North America. Raleigh, NC (November 10, 2014) – 85 waste industry movers and shakers gathered recently for the first annual Waste Industry Charity Golf Classic at the beautiful Tournament Players Club of Tampa Bay in Tampa, FL. Big Truck Rental and Environmental Solutions Group (ESG) partnered together on the event and raised a total of $39,000, of which $13,000 each went to benefit the United Way of Chattanooga (where ESG is based), the Metropolitan Ministries of Tampa (home to Big Truck Rental) and the Environmental Research & Education Foundation (EREF).
Raleigh, NC (October 28, 2014) – The Board of Directors of the Environmental Research and Education Foundation (EREF) is pleased to announce the award of three research grants for solid waste research.
EREF is the only private, grant making institution with a national and international scope whose sole mission is to support solid waste research and education initiatives. EREF’s research grants program is led by its Research Council, a body of volunteers consisting of technical experts in industry, academia and consulting. The work of the Council is guided by a long range strategic plan with the goal to achieve greater sustainability, good environmental stewardship, higher process efficiency and increased knowledge. Council recommended projects are then reviewed by EREF’s Board’s Projects Committee for a final review and funding allocation. Non-research oriented projects are reviewed and recommended to the Projects Committee by technical staff.
