The 2019 EREF Silent Auction, held at the Waste & Recycling Expo Canada, offers companies a unique opportunity to showcase their products and demonstrate their dedication to sustainability and waste industry research.
Who is EREF?
The Environmental Research & Education Foundation (EREF) is a non-profit, 501(c)3 charitable organization whose mission is to advance sustainable solid waste management practices through research and educational initiatives. The Foundation is one of the largest sources of funding for solid waste research in the U.S., allocating $0.5 – $1 million each year in grants and graduate student scholarships through our Research Grants and Scholarships Programs. Our Data & Policy Program aggregates data pertinent to current waste industry issues, as well as employs undergraduate student interns who assist with the data gathering and analysis.
With the help of the Ontario Waste Management Association (OWMA), EREF developed a program to support the Canadian waste sector, funding research where Canadian-based waste companies have indicated a need. In partnership with the OWMA, EREF is excited to hold its second Silent Auction at CWRE.
Donations to the EREF Silent Auction support the Environmental Research & Education Foundation’s mission in Canada.

How Does the Silent Auction Work?
The Silent Auction will take place from 10:00 am – 4:00 pm on Wednesday, October 9 and Thursday, October 10 (during Exhibit Halls hours). Exhibiting donor companies will have signage in their booths with details of their item up for bid. To place your initial bid on an item, simply visit the EREF booth #1911. You will be notified via text when you have been outbid and have the option to increase your bid.

CWRE attendees can get their caffeine fix in the EREF Silent Auction Booth from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm on Wednesday, October 9.

Silent Auction Donation Required Items:
- Fair Market Value (FMV) of the donated item (must be a minimum $450 (CAN), and up to 2 items may be donated to meet the $450 (CAN) minimum), including freight and federal excise tax
- Donation Name (how your donation will appear on all signage and promotional materials – 50 characters or less, including spaces)
- Description of donation (75 words or less)
- A photo of your donation (EPS file or a high-res PNG file at least 7” wide at 300dpi)
- Your company logo (EPS file or high-res transparent PNG file at least 10” wide at 300 dpi)
